What It Is

- Minimum 20 seeds per packet
Planting Information
- Sun: Full sun, 6–8 hours daily
- Plant type: Annual
- Germination: 7–10 days in warm soil
- Best soil temperature: 70–85°F
- Planting depth: About 1/4 inch
- Spacing: 9–12 inches apart
- Bloom time: About 8–10 weeks
- Height: 24–36 inches
How to Grow
Direct sow outdoors after all danger of frost has passed, once soil has warmed. Press seeds about 1/4 inch into loose, well-draining soil and keep evenly moist until germination. Thin to 9–12 inches apart once true leaves appear. Pinch young plants at 6–8 inches tall to encourage bushier growth. Cut often for the vase.
Good to Know
Cool spring soil slows zinnia germination noticeably, so wait for real summer warmth before sowing. Slight bloom-to-bloom variation is normal and part of the charm of seed-grown zinnias.
